What is molasses and how is it used?

Molasses is made from unsulphured juice of sugarcane. After the sugarcane is cut and crushed, the juices are extracted and boiled. The juice is placed into a crystallizer, spinning out molasses. Molasses can be used as a sweetener in baked foods or as table syrup.
